This song interpolates the Coen brothers movie O Brother, Where Art Thou (2000) and makes use of strong religious imagery. The Holy Ghost is a title for the third figure in the Holy Trinity described in Christianity. He is also known as the Holy Spirit. Note that the album title is a play on the word ‘Allah’, the Islamic title for God.
The central theme of the song is the corruption of institutionalized religion. Rocky refutes the necessity of such institutions, asserting that he is fine communicating with God on his own. The song has a sombre, meditative tone and closes with Rocky pleading with the Holy Ghost to help him. The rest of the album details his escapades as a famous rapper, including but not limited to problems with sex, drugs, violence, and greed — perhaps serving as a confessional for Rocky as he attempts to absolve himself of his sins.
Rocky talks about this song on his interview with Sway in the morning.
